everything o is new again

washington, dc’s shaw neighborhood was the centerpiece of african-american culture during the harlem renaissance and is the hometown of jazz great duke ellington. today, the neighborhood is undergoing its own renaissance, inspired and reinvigorated by projects such as the renewal of the storied howard theatre…and of course, city market at o. the aim of the project was to breathe new life into a corner of dc which had nearly been left for dead. this website, created along with chrissy ortiz for freelance client gold dog communications, helped to brand this new luxury mixed use development, which incorporates the landmark city market. setting up the o as “the new element of style,” the site pays homage to the neighborhood’s past as it attracts occupants to an important corner of its bright, new future.
